authentication win32

I tried out using the header function with the dll. It does seem to work, whereas I understood that it wouldn't work with the cgi. Using the script fragment in the manual, an authentication box does pop up, but it doesn't seem that there is any way to get a successful authentication. Is there an example of how to do this with IIS?
