So, what exactly did the PHP group do wrong that upset you like this? Is there a slight possibility that you didn't read the warnings in the manual about choosing the right MySQL API? These warnings are here (php.net/manual/en/mysql.php), here ( php.net/manual/en/intro.mysql.php - "This extension is not recommended for writing new code"), here (php.net/manual/en/mysqlinfo.api.choosing.php), here (php.net/manual/en/mysqlinfo.library.choosing.php) and probably all over the net.
