The information added to every ext/mysql function is meant to
accomplish at least two goals:
1. Inform users that ext/mysql is not the ideal extension choice
2. Inform users about alternatives
3. Yet clarify it won't be deleted over night (not cause a panic!)
Removing the popular ext/mysql extension is a slow process, so that
is why we started with education. I am sorry this was not clear, and
do apologize for any miscommunication this has caused. We'll try to
make it clearer in the documentation.
We do plan to add more helpful tools like migration scripts but they
will never suit all conditions. So the first step is to learn about
the alternatives, and use them for new code.
