PHP4 Apache module

Hi all, I'm working under Windows 2000, with an Apache Web Server and PHP4 installed as an apache module. But with this type of configuration, I can't use GD library even by loading it with "dl" function. It always say that for example "ImageCreate" is an unknown function. What can I do to be able to use gd library ? PS: I have to use PHP4 as an Apache Module in order to be able to use the authentification method by sending http error 401in the header.
