I've noticed this problem on my Win98 box with php 3 and php 4 In my test I tried to excute some batch using command.com ( exec("c:\command.com /k mybatch.bat" ); ). Without command.com the batch doesn't work. When command.com ended, I saw that my batch was executed successfully, but php still running, probably waintig for the end of command.com . Seems that php doesn't catch the command end. In fact, in my original attempt the exe was in the same directory as the script, so no path was needed. The application appears to be running but it doesn't do anything. I have to shut down the process from WinNT Task Manager. Incidentally, if I run the script from the command line it works fine. It's only when it's invoked from the browser that it hangs. I have the same problem with a call to a COM function, as I have posted in another thread.
