userland solutions because it's a nightmare trying to get a web host to build new extensions into PHP (usually takes months, if it ever happens).I agree. Let's face it, for XML support, either Java or Python is a better solution than PHP right now. One of the main advantages I see in PHP over Java is that PHP is lightweight, has lots of built in features and there are lots of generic hosting options. I want to write apps that are EASILY installed on lots of different hosts. If it requires special build options or root access I might as well use Java on my own co-hosted application server. - Greg Keraunen http://www.xmake.org http://www.xmlmake.com
