If it requires special build options or root access I might as well use Java on my own co-hosted application server.While I agree taht good xml support should be bundled, have you ever actually used Java!?!?!?!? There are a ton of reasons to prefer PHP over Java (and vice-versa) that go beyond having to add an extension at build time.
