ID: 18374 Updated by: sniper@php.net Reported By: rtwick@utkalika.org Status: Feedback Bug Type: Compile Failure Operating System: Redhat Linux 7.2 PHP Version: 4CVS-2002-07-16 New Comment: So you did NOT do './cvsclean' ??? That's very important.. If that doesn't make any difference, try updating libtool to 1.4.2 and automake to 1.5 (I have those and everything works :) Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-07-17 13:49:07] rtwick@utkalika.org I'm sorry, the t1lib was actually specified with --with-t1lib=/usr/local not --with-t1lib=/usr/local/lib. Each time I run configure, I get fresh copy from cvs using the following commands cvs -d :pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.net:/repository login cvs -d :pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.net:/repository co php4 and then do a buildconf followed by configure and make. Here's my output from build/buildcheck.sh buildconf: checking installation... buildconf: autoconf version 2.13 (ok) buildconf: automake version 1.4-p5 (ok) buildconf: libtool version 1.4 (ok) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-07-17 13:34:00] sniper@php.net Using '/usr/local/lib' with ANY configure option does not work and might sometimes cause this kind of unpredictable results. The latest CVS should not suffer from this though.. I hope you remembered to delete config.cache between your configure tests...as that's propably why you got the same error when you removed --with-t1lib and added other one. Did you get the sources from CVS or from a snapshot? If you got them from CVS, what does build/buildcheck.sh output ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-07-17 12:25:45] rtwick@utkalika.org Hi, I have tried to add each option one by one and it failed when I included --with-t1lib=/usr/local/lib. Then I removed the t1lib optionand added --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local and got the same error. I uninstalled the t1lib and jpeg lib from /usr/local and installed them into /usr, then with --with-t1lib=/usr and --with-jpeg-dir=/usr seems to work. It seems if I install any thing into /usr/local, then make fails. /usr/local option works fine with PHP 4.2.1 though. Could this be a possible PHP configuration problem or something to do with my system ? Thanks R'twick ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-07-17 09:43:16] rtwick@utkalika.org Thanks, make without any options ( just ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/bin/apxs ) worded fine. I'm currently configuring it by adding one by one other options and will post when I find the first failure. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-07-16 23:52:41] sniper@php.net To find out what is causing this, please try first with the minimum amount of configure options. Do this: cvs up -dPA ; ./cvsclean ; ./buildconf ; ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/bin/apxs ; make (assuming you're pulling the stuff from CVS and not using a snapshot. If latter, get a new snapshot and do only the configure part) If the above works, start adding your configure options one by one until it breaks. Then let us know which one breaks the build. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The remainder of the comments for this report are too long.
