 Status:           Open
 Bug Type:         Java related
 Operating System: Windows 2000
 PHP Version:      4.2.2
 New Comment:

We have tried it with Apache 1.3x - the same Problem.
We now will switch to JSP - that module isn't stable enough at the
moment.
Yes - I know it's experimental.

Maybe you should tell Zeev that he shouldn't mention the possibility to
use Java with php in interviews as long the module is under heavy
development.

Daniel Khan

It's still buggy. As I said before, I ocasionally get errors in the
middle of a request, like:

Java version=1.4.0_01
Java vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
OS=Windows 2000 5.0 on x86
Friday, August 16, 2002 at 11:04:16 AM GMT-03:00

System Properties at 1.02950665676E+012
awt.toolkit = 'sun.awt.windows.WToolkit'
file.encoding = 'Cp1252'
file.encoding.pkg = 'sun.io'
file.separator = ''
PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 01B53F4F

Also, after some succesful requests, I got an
Fatal error: Unable to create Java Virtual Machine in
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\estatisticos\admin\java.php on line 3

Once again, my php.ini settings:

java.class.path = "C:\PHP_latest\extensions\php_java.jar"
java.home = "C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\"
java.library = "C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll"
java.library.path = "C:\PHP_latest\extensions\"

Yes it can make a big difference. I'm not testing anything against
Apache2 at this time. I don't run it, nor do I wish to. Please note
that Apache2 support for PHP is still considered experimental and is
not guaranteed to work.

And mixing dll's from different versions isn't suggested. It will
cause bad and unexplained things to happen. So don't do it.

Setting this back to feedback awaiting a little more testing from
nalves. It seems that it's kinda sorta partially fixed.

Using the same configuration shown below, only with the cvs snapshot, I
got a strange behavior. Sometimes it executed perfectly, others, the
result was not complete and a message like
PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 01C637E2
was shown in the middle of the page (nothing below it), and now that I
tried to run the script for some times, ISS just seem to be hanged,
because I connot complete any simple request, even if it´s not related
to php. I think I'll have to restart IIS...
I'll try to make some more tests and report the results later.

I just tried it but I had to use the php4apache2.dll frpm my previous
installation - I got an error that a procedure couldn't be found on
apache startup.

Could it make a difference if I use Apache 1.x?

Thanks

Daniel
