ID: 18600 Updated by: kalowsky@php.net Reported By: nalves@equifax.com.br -Status: Open +Status: Feedback Bug Type: Java related Operating System: Windows 2000 -PHP Version: 4.2.2 +PHP Version: 4.2.3 New Comment: Please try using this CVS snapshot: http://snaps.php.net/php4-latest.tar.gz For Windows: http://snaps.php.net/win32/php4-win32-latest.zip Updating version. As I asked before though, can you test an "unstable" build of PHP, aka the code we are considering to be PHP 4.3.0 at the URLs provided above? Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-09-09 07:32:23] nalves@equifax.com.br As soon as I knew about version 4.2.3, I got it and tried to see if the bug was fixed. Unfortunatelly, after few tests, I got the message 'PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 77FCB2B9'. So far I couldn't get the message 'Unable to create java virtual machine', but I didn't run a lot of tests. Also, after a few reloads at my test page, I couldn't get no more results (the request seemed to return nothing at all!). Other php pages that don't use the java lib still work fine. Nelio Pereira ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-09-06 16:40:21] kalowsky@php.net Please try using this CVS snapshot: http://snaps.php.net/php4-latest.tar.gz For Windows: http://snaps.php.net/win32/php4-win32-latest.zip The only common thing I'm seeing about this is all cases happen on a Win32 machine. It seems the *NIX machines are not having this problem. I've tried to install this on a Win2k machine here, but it's being a bit more difficult than I'd like. Regardless, there have been a few bug fixes specific to Windows that might have corrected this. That and some more minor work on the ext/java extension. Take a test if you can please, and no 4.2.3 won't fix this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-08-20 06:50:33] dk@webcluster.at We have tried it with Apache 1.3x - the same Problem. We now will switch to JSP - that module isn't stable enough at the moment. Yes - I know it's experimental. Maybe you should tell Zeev that he shouldn't mention the possibility to use Java with php in interviews as long the module is under heavy development. regards Daniel Khan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-08-16 10:10:07] nalves@equifax.com.br It's still buggy. As I said before, I ocasionally get errors in the middle of a request, like: Java version=1.4.0_01 Java vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc. OS=Windows 2000 5.0 on x86 Friday, August 16, 2002 at 11:04:16 AM GMT-03:00 System Properties at 1.02950665676E+012 awt.toolkit = 'sun.awt.windows.WToolkit' file.encoding = 'Cp1252' file.encoding.pkg = 'sun.io' file.separator = '' PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 01B53F4F Also, after some succesful requests, I got an Fatal error: Unable to create Java Virtual Machine in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\estatisticos\admin\java.php on line 3 Once again, my php.ini settings: java.class.path = "C:\PHP_latest\extensions\php_java.jar" java.home = "C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\" java.library = "C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll" java.library.path = "C:\PHP_latest\extensions\" Nelio Pereira ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-08-16 09:29:13] kalowsky@php.net Yes it can make a big difference. I'm not testing anything against Apache2 at this time. I don't run it, nor do I wish to. Please note that Apache2 support for PHP is still considered experimental and is not guaranteed to work. And mixing dll's from different versions isn't suggested. It will cause bad and unexplained things to happen. So don't do it. Setting this back to feedback awaiting a little more testing from nalves. It seems that it's kinda sorta partially fixed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The remainder of the comments for this report are too long.
