Hi Sterling,
I agree in principle but from my experience of Perl and CPAN I've found
that if I use some perl source that requires another module I end up having
to download and install a whole chain of other dependencies for some
functionality that only takes up a couple more lines of "native" code.
Furthermore, I have also found that about 40% of the time I have to find
an older version of a package to make it work (after I have downloaded
and compiled the newer one and discovered it didn't work).
It's a nice idea, when it works :-)
