In almost all the mailing lists I've ever subscribed to, the author of a post sends the post to the mailing list. The mailing list then sends it to the list members, and the members receive an e-mail with <mailinglist address> in the From: header. The member responds by clicking Reply. With this list, I may receive the e-mail from the author, the list, or both. When I click reply, I may send it to either the author or the list, but usually the author. I could click Reply To All, but I don't like receiving duplicate reponses to my e-mails and I don't want to send duplicate responses to others. Because the list address doesn't appear consistantly in any one place, it's difficult to set up filters to catch the messages and send them to the correct folder. My inbox already tends to get flooded, and this is making it worse. Part of the problem is that I'm forced to use Outlook, which seems to be the most unstable of MS's numerous unstable products. The filtering capabilities are poor and it executes filters at random. But it would help a lot if the list implemented the system that, AFAIK, is standard for mail lists. -----Original Message----- From: Robert V. I assume that the mailing list admin has read this paper.
