The Reply To field is really irrelevant. I'm used to seeing the mailling
list in the From field, which makes sense, since that's who is sending me
the e-mail. If that requires evil munging, then having the mailing list
always appear in the same place would be helpful. The To field would be
nice.
If "standard" mailing list behavior is achieved through nonstandard means,
or if is going to make life really difficult for the administrator, then it
should be avoided. It's just that I haven't seen anything that requires a
mailing list to act the way this one does. Disclaimer: Not an expert on
mailing lists.

On 2000-07-20, Rasmus Lerdorf stated:

I think one of the issues he is raising is *where*
php-db@lists.php.net appears in the header. Sometimes it is in the
CC: header and sometimes it's in the To: header.
It would be nice if the list always had its address in the To: header for
consistency [and for folks who might not have procmail or have limited
filtering abilities].
/vjl/ [who has mixed feelings of reply-to munging - one of the bad things
about it is the duplicate messages [and increased bandwidth] caused by
folks using the 'reply to all' features of their MUA]
