Hi Mark!
Could you compile php without any problems?
I mean it was a lot of messing around with headerfiles on my solaris8!
I reinstalled oracle client with oci8 (custom installation) on my sun sparc
and I had to move all oci files from $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/demo to
$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/public and still there was missing nzt.h headerfile and I
found it under $ORACLE_HOME/network/public
After that I could make a php4 module for apache.
But my apache answered with the same error message "symbol OCIEnvInit ..."
So I decided to go for worse solution and install odbc on my server.
Jarek

Dear all,
Just been hassled by Oracle support as they reckon that the "client
developer installation" in 8.1.6 does install all the libraries and header
files necessary to compile oci8 + net8 support.
I didnt believe them and decided to try it out ( again ).
I used Linux ( Redhat 6.1) + 8i Release 8.1.6 and did
install->client->developer
The resulting beast was 160M ( not too bad - could shrink it by deleting
bin/* )
and ( I was surprised ) I could compile Php4.0.0 ( --withn-oci8 ) ( and
also DBD-Oracle-1.0.3 ) ok
I guess someone at Oracle has been listening to our complaining after
all....
( I am sure that 8.0.5 did not offer this sort of option, and suspect 8.1.5
did not either - but I cannot remember...)
Cheers
Mark
