My guess is that the the DNS MX records are set with an wildcard for
*.e-na.net and so it doesn't answer for just e-na.net. That could explain
why it answers for mail.e-na.net as I haven't created that sub-domain.
I wanted to check this but I couldn't figure how. I have been strugling
with nslookup but I couldn't get along with it's syntax. Do you know how
to list all resource records for anything under the e-na.net domain with
nslookup or anything else?

Right. I got the message. There is no such mail account so it was
delivered to the dump account.

Yes, I read something in the RFCs about the domain in question being LOCAL
rather than remote but I could not figure exactly where that would
influence. Anyway, the DNS server is not in the same machine.

I guess I have to fallback to the using gethostbyname to make sure that it
returns a valid IP and try to connect mail server at the returned address
to check for a valid e-mail.
