Yes, this has been covered several times, including #5327
What isn't covered is why buildconf works in a fresh source
tree, but fails when configure.in' is altered in any way, even
a trivial space added. I thought that was curious, otherwise this
wasn't an issue for me at all. Everything works fine. :)
