Jon, Having been pointed out to you by many respected members of this list and many other members of the PHP "team" your tone is unnecessary. You have persisted to attack both rasmus and zeev, at times. They both (as well as andi and many many others.. Too many to mention) have put many many hours into PHP for the love of it, until the invent of Zend there was no promise of profit (and still is no promise) but they carried on all the same. They all have become leaders in the development of PHP and for that they deserve respect. They have written the code from the base up and have done the best they can while doing this. I think that it is firstly very arrogant and secondly extremely rude of you to critcise them like this. I do not see you spearheadding one of the most successful pieces of opensource web software, and I can tell you why, this is due to your blantient "If its not done my way then I can do it better attitude". Both Rasmus and Zeev would I sure admit there are things in the PHP codebase that are not the way they should be and they are added to the todo list along with everything else. If you were one of the senior developers over at MySQL or PgSQL or anyother OS project then Im sure your opinion would be of more value, but at the moment the way you express it it becomes totally worthless. I think you should go away and gain some respect for other people. Im sure if I spent 10 mins looking at any code you did I could point out pieces of your code I would personally do differently because I think that doing it this way would be better and Im only a 17 year old student that has an interest in PHP and enjoys the comunity spirit, where I can actually feel from time to time I have done somthing to forward the development of PHP (wether it be adding somthing to the manual or doing some QA). I do not see Zeev speaking to me in a condisending tone because of this fact, in fact every time I speak to Zeev or Andi on IRC or via Email they are curtious and pleasent to me as well as giving me respect, I have never once felt that either of them have thought why am I even listening to his opinion it does not matter to PHP, ofcourse Im not as experianced as some of you guys, but there is such a thing as common human coutisy which personally I feel is very important and is also the reason why PHP is where it is, because apart from the odd person like you, yes that is a personal attack, everyone is curtious and intelligent enough to hold constructive discussions when it comes to issues like this. I have great respect for all of the PHP developers because they are here doing what they enjoy but for free, I think this is enough for them to have done to deserve anyones respect. But ofcourse you are on a higher level to use mere mortals so you as always are right. Yours James P.S. A reply consiting of You are only a 17 YO student and thus your opinion doesnt matter is fine but at least thing of what I have said and lets hope you either grow up a bit or send a blank email to php-dev-unsubscribe@lists.php.net and do us all a favour. Im also glad you approve of the Docu Changes by Ron et all, perhaps we could get you to sit on the PHP-CVS list and moderate all commits incase somthing does not come up to your standards. P.P.S. I am sorry to continue this thread people but I feel quite strongly about this and that it needed to be said (although Zeev and Stas have also already said this too..)
