$htmlent = 'htmlentities'; print $htmlent ('" should be converted to " & should be converted to &'); Interesting. Does it work with define()d constants too? If it does, is it efficient? If it does and is, it would be a great thing to put on the language.constant.php manual page.variable variables (chapter in the manual), it only works with variables! andré
