Most of it way over my head ;-( Perhaps some of you guys could take time out from doing battle and review a modest piece of work which I have developed - http://www.scl.co.uk/scripthash It's not a full blown "application server" (whatever that might mean ;-) but it does go some tiny way towards mitigating one of the key problems with mod_php which an "application server" would apparently address - the problem of running under the "wrong uid".
