No, it's all within my LAN. No proxy servers here. I have a small Delphi
App that I can use to see the returned headers and so I set up a test to
provide the 'Content-Encoding: deflate' information and I get this back:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2000 00:24:03 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.11 (Unix) PHP/4.0.4RC5
X-Powered-By: PHP/4.0.4RC5
Hello: world
Content-Encoding: deflate
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html
I can do the same for gzip and I get the proper response. However, none of
the browsers I have available decompress the information properly. I just
see the garbage characters in the browser.
