Well, what does ASP? If we would mimic that, it would be easier to port
existing ASP/VB scripts to PHP. That would be an important argument for PHP.
Using an explicit session_start() in every script is fine, too. I was thinking
of a complete transparent approach where you put everything (paths, cookie
name) into the configuration and register/unregister session variables
dynamically (that is what you basically do with PHPLIB).
Joe Random User may not need that functionality - I think we should go on to
implement this basic set of functions. That should not be too hard.
