IMAP is better at what it aims to do than POP, since POP doesn't
aim to do those things. But the IMAP spec is really awful (try to
implement a server based on it!). It also just has some built-in
limitations (like the unique id thing) that are just plain dumb.
I'm not advocating POP over IMAP. I'm just saying that I don't
believe IMAP is a very good implementation of the ideas behind
it.
