All you do is install everything as you would on Windows 9x, without it set up as a service. Then you just create a batchfile to Launch the MySQL daemon and the Apache server. Edit the httpd.conf file first to what ever drive letter it's given and there you go, a portable web server... Of course this is assuming that this is all on a Windows system. How do you deal with the DLLs and other files that get into the system registry and system folder? I know PHP definitely need some DLLs installed in \windows\system (or system32 depending on OS version). And there are registry entries that get added when you install them. I've never gotten this to work on a windows machine, however a bootable unix CD does sound promising. Maybe even unix + wine + windows, but I don't know how big that will get to fit on a CD.Personally, I'd rather have it all under unix, however I have had clients completely lose their comfort zone when I drop them into unix just to show them the website on their machine. They're a lot happier if it can be as simple as launching their browser on their windows peecee, and start browsing. So far I've been pointing them to my server because of dynamic content. But, if I can carry around a thumb drive, or CD with everything on it, now wouldn't that just look cool? -- W | I haven't lost my mind; it's backed up on tape somewhere. +-------------------------------------------------------------------- Ashley M.
