There is guy (in the US) who made a very very good application, gave it out
open source and all he had in his license was "please dont use this
commercially without my permission"
He put it on his website and around 2 months later he saw his app very very
slightly modified being sold AND used commerically on another website...this
person (who is using the software commercially) stays outside the US.
That is a blatiant disregard to the license of the software...what can the
creator do?
NOTHING.
If you create something and want to market it commercially...whats to stop
your compettion from buying a copy and changing a few lines of source code
and selling it for 1/3 of your price?
NOTHING.
If you have been programming (in any language) long enough you will know
that sometimes you get stuck on the silliest of mistakes or sometimes not so
silly for hours if not days...at the end when everything is working...dont
you think you should be rewarded?
There are many more examples i can give you but I am sure you are not a
stupid person and can think of other scenarios.
Think about those things and maybe you wont feel so sick or think its
"against PHP".
Just my two cents.
Cheers,
-Ryan
