It must be something that I am doing wrong. I just did a simple
test on both servers and it worked on both. I tried this.
test1.php:
<?
session_start();
?>
<a href=/test2.php>test2</a>
test2.php:
<?
session_start();
phpinfo();
?>
On both servers this works fine. I must have the links printing
from a function somewhere that either PHPSESSID is not passed to
or is not defined using global.
That is most likely the case, which means that I am simply a
dumb@ss. Sorry for wasting your time.

Check the settings using phpinfo() on the broken site. Are
they correct everywhere?
