I figured out what the problem is. It has nothing to do with
printing links in functions, being a virtual host or anything
like that. It is a problem with style sheets.
<a class=sidebar href=/test2.php>test2</a> does not work.
<a href=/test2.php class=sidebar>test2</a> does work.
I should have figured this out right away. Sorry for bothering
everyone.

Check the settings using phpinfo() on the broken site. Are
they correct everywhere?
