Re: these menus, are they noticeably faster when just one level vs. two ? What I mean is : [purchase] [service] [other] -> [engine] -> [body] -> [tires] -> [firestone] // are these slower? -> [flat] So, if firestone and flat were removed, would the entire menu load faster ? This is not a solution but this bit of information makes me curious. So basically, if there were 20 in the first level and 0 in the second, would that be faster then say a 10 first, 5 second. Confused? :-) I checked out ml.com and they use these menus and they *seem* to load fast. Perhaps see how they do it ? The FAQ here : http://www.webreference.com/dhtml/hiermenus/faq/ has some interesting thoughts. They discus the 'slow menu rendering' here : http://www.webreference.com/dhtml/hiermenus/faq/faq7.html and it explains it a bit and how no 'solution' exists (I use the term 'solution' loosely). Regarding weberdev, having the status bar enabled is both good and bad, I cannot decide. Bad in that it makes us know the culprit (menus) but if not enabled, we have no idea what's going or what's the holdup! So, hard to say on that. Sad, these menus are very nice and helpful, it's too bad they can't load with the site. I'd love to do other things while they're loading ... regards, Philip -- be outside the box.
