HI Michael,
You've hit the nail right on its head. The problem is integration! I found
that getting my UBB to upgrade into vBulletin was quite possible (I didnt
say "snap") but cannot say the same about other permutations.
I was smitten with UBB around this same time last year, and trust me, the
very fact that vBulletin and phorum are database-backed (as opposed to flat
files), is already a GREAT boon. I quite like vBulletin. I have hacked my
code in such a way that it integrates with my usual user LDAP database.
Hacking SQL is sooo much easier.
Besides, I have tried to segmentize my code and added a lot more comments
here and there, so functionality is quite extendible when required.
Just a few thoughts,
Shanx
| as does ubb and other projects. The main issue we've had with all
| of them (I might get corrected here, but it's an impression after having
| installed a couple) is that they're made to do one thing, but not
| terribly integratable with other stuff.
