Well, I finally got everything to compile ok with what APPEAR to be the
correct "--with" pareamters: (--with-gd=/usr/local --with-jpeg-dir=/usr)
Two interesting thing of note:
1) When I tried to specify the location of the gd library (which is in
/usr/local/lib), you MUST leave OFF the "lib" part of the directory tree or
it won't find the library??!! (eg --with-gd=/usr/local/lib WON'T work
but --with-gd=/usr/local WILL.... <shrug>).
2) As far as I can tell, the jpeg library I'm after is "libjpeg" which is
located in /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62.... HOWEVER, when I tried configuring
apache it kept saying it couldn't find libjpeg... so I took a wild guess and
put in a symbolic link to /usr/lib/libjpeg.so to /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 and
sure enough the darn thing configured/compiled.. BUT, my imagecreatefromjpeg
function STILL doesn't work GHAAAA!!!! Getting frustrated here... what am I
doing wrong??
Thanks all (especially you Matt!)!
