At the risk of getting my chestnuts roasted on an open fire... here is a
more involved question along this line. Have had clients ask about it in
the past and have sidestepped it as too problematic and costly to be viable.
What if we want to package an apache, PHP, DB(MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc...)
site onto a CD for distribution.
Example, Retail chain has completely dynamic site (all PHP and DB generated)
and wants to distribute a copy to all stores on CD for perusal on their
local system(so they can respond to customer questions and comments), but
stores do not have INet access(can't have those minimum wagers surfin the
net on company time).
My initial though process before dismissing it was to hack together a MS PWS
with PHP, try to shock start the postgres(in this case) DB and keep putsing
with it until something workable came of it... then just dump the whole
shabang with InstallShield onto CD for distribution.
thoughts?
