Why should people reading archives somewhere not be able to send replies
and questions to the list?

This particular case could probably be taken care of.

No amount of spam protection is going to be perfect. The absolute best
way to deal with spam on a mailing list is simply to tap your 'd' key and
move on. If you feel you want to do something, help track it down, but
don't reply to the list.
