I've been on this list for almost 3 years now. And I'm on about 5-6 different mailinglists that equaltes to about 300-400 emails a day. I can say that the ratio of Spam vs people complaining about the "Spam" is about 1:5 on just about every mailinglist. I mean it's only one piece of Spam email? But then I get another 10 emails from people complaining about it? That's what annoyed me more than the Spam itself. My advice is the same with Rasmus, if you get the Spam, delete the bloody thing, and get on with it. And if you don't like Spam? Unsubscribe, and be done with it.
I'm on a few more mailing lists than that, although with only a slightly higher total volume. Other than the PHP lists, NONE of the others have any spam at all, let alone people complaining about it. Why? Because those lists are closed to subscribers only. I seriously doubt that anyone who has web or NNTP access wouldn't have EMail access, and thus would be prevented from participating in any discussions. If someone really is interested in participating, it's not really that hard to subscribe... Anyway, just my thoughts. Several others seem to disagree :) Angus.
