Hello guys!
I've spent some hour to play with that script around and look what I've
done:
http://maxim.cx/test/img.php
Core features added:
* HTML Compression (sizes are now only some 15-20% of what we used to
have before)
* pixel-by-pixel resolution (a simple dot (.) and CSS combination)
* ZOOM
And some more "invisible" ones
Looks pretty cool now and a bit more usable, especially on smaller
and/or monotone graphics.
Things I haven't done yet:
* I will later on add some more compression (didn't work a way out
skipping lines as well),
* I will improve zoom compatibility.
* Since colors often repeat I had also an idea to cover the whole image
using CSS in order to produce less HTML, but the algorithm didn't really
work for the first time.
* Also, I was wondering if this could be done with other image formats.
* And guys, how come every PNG is always with a black background even if
I see it white o the graphic itself?
* I think some other method instead of dotted pixels would work better,
but must be smaller in HTML. Suggestions?
Who wants to play with this little funny thing please go wild:
Here's the source code:
http://maxim.cx/test/img.phps
Hey guys, I really love this little thing!
Take care all,
I better get some sleep.

simple change with css again
change
echo "<font color='";
to
echo "<font style='background-color: ";
and change the 'W' to ' '
http://www.mediawaveonline.com/test.php?image=www.libpng.org/pub/png/img
_png
/pnglogo-blk-sml1.png
IE will view this nice, opera wont, it doesnt seem to like the range of
colors and wants to stick to a simpler pallate for backround colors.

I just changed it to not make such a big load
ne ways here it is
<html>
<body bgcolor='000000' style='font-size: 1%'>
<?php
if(empty($char))
$char = "W";
echo "<img src='http://$image'><br>";
$im = ImageCreateFromPNG("http://$image");
for($y = 0; $y < imagesy($im); $y++)
{
for($x = 0; $x < imagesx($im); $x++)
{
$color = ImageColorsForIndex($im, ImageColorAt($im, $x, $y));
$red = $color['red'];
$green = $color['green'];
$blue = $color['blue'];
if($red != $oldred && $green != $oldgreen && $blue != $oldblue)
{
$oldred = $red;
$oldgreen = $green;
$oldblue = $blue;
echo "<font color='";
printf("%02x%02x%02x",$color['red'],$color['green'],$color['blue']);
echo "'>".$char."</font>";
}
else
echo $char;
}
echo '<br>';
}
?>
</body>
</html>
