Yup, this is probably what's going to happen.
But still, I'd love to test this difference. With CSS you cut almost 50%
down.
Perhaps this can be decided later-on automatically by PHP.

I'm not sure going to CSS is worth much...in terms of speed. Sure
you may generate less HTML, but the rendering speed in the browser gets
drastically cut down. At least, in every environment and machines that
I have, it did. Using the (now depreciated)<font> tag was by far the
fastest, but as soon as I switch to CSS, whether at the top of the
document, or in the HTML itself, the rendering time just crawled.
I realize this has nothing to do with how fats the script generates
the HTML, or how much of it gets generated, but still. Having some very
slow rendition of an image in text isn't going to appeal to anyone, I
don't think.
