I apologize to each any every member of this list for my tone in regards to
some earlier messages about the difficulty I've been having with the mail()
in PHP. I know it sounded terse and arrogant, but it was my high level of
frustration. Ok, so it's not a good excuse for being rude but there it is.
I had been avoiding re-installing everything because it shouldn't be the
answer to any solution (just a global re-installation) but after trying to
get this solved for a couple of weeks now, I've decided to h*ll with it, and
stuck in the CD and reinstalled my linux (Mandrake version 7). It went
fairly quickly since I was able to trim up on a few things I didn't want
installed anyways... downloaded the new PHP and Apache, compiled and got
them running. Copied php.dist-ini to /usr/local/lib/php.ini, verified the
sendmail_path. Ran the install-sendmail 5.2 script, got sendmail running.
Typed up a test PHP page with:
<?
mail( "wizaerd@wizaerd.com", "Test Mail", "This is a test",
"From:
jsheble@zanova.com" );
?>
and it came right through.
The only thing I can come up with at this point is something or other was
indeed screwed up, but it was something that was not highly evident.
Again I apologize, and I hope that you won't hold it against me for too
long...
