Hi Cory,
As long as the fonts are now set using em's [vs. percents as before] there should not be any compatibility issues with Migrating from HTML to XHTML.
We already have issues with HTML 4.01. We didn't have any issues at all until our DTD started working - even with the percents. We still have issues since the move to em. (Take a look at the sidebar.) However, I disagree with XHTML 1.0 Transitional... if you are
moving to XHTML, I feel you should put the extra little bit of effort and go all the way. Personally, I code for XHTML 1.1 with no issues.
You aren't working with a 5-year-old site & a ton of legacy code. We are, and XHTML Strict is a fairly demanding master if we're going to try and make it valid throughout. Transitional doesn't require too many changes - Strict really does, and we don't have anyone dedicated to pure web work on the team.
Again, just my two cents. :-)
I'm saving up all these two cents I get, I'll be rich one day :-)
- Cory Christison P.S. - maybe I should hop on the php-gtk-webmaster list and see what that is all about. :-)
Please do, particularly since web stuff seems to be a strong area for you - but we've ended up discussing most of this on the dev list for some reason... - Steph
