Hi there, I'm not very active in the PHP community or anything, but I have been following this list since Nov. 19th, 2005. :-) Your font-size issue seems to be how you set your font-sizes. To my knowledge, percent's are not very cross plat-form and are rendered differently. I would suggest changing them to em's. If you are unsure how em's, work, they are very similar to percents. Eg:
      body
      {
          font-size: 0.8em;
      }
Would be similar to using 80%. :-) Just thought I'd throw in my two cent's... I don't know if that is the exact problem, but it's worth a shot. :-) - Cory Christison Steph Fox wrote:
Thanks Steph. It seems to be working well. I have two comments though:
Hey Scott, thanks for testing!
1) One of your changes seems to have made the text on the entire site shrink way down in FireFox (Linux). I know we had this issue before and I think it may have had something to do with the doctype, but I can't remember exactly.
Note that I haven't changed the doctype - I just made it legal. I have vague memories of a Firefox/char issue being related to that before too, but I'm fairly sure it wasn't HTML 4.01 transitional that exposed it... didn't we try to move to strict or xhtml or something? Also Firefox - a deal more mature now than it was at the time - is probably the most standards-compliant browser there is. If it's having problems with 4.01 transitional it's most likely because we're doing something wrong, not because we're doing something right. One of the things the validator complained about was that the stylesheet 'links'. Given that it also complained about the doctype declaration (and that fixing that gave us back utf-8 encoding), is it possible that the two stylesheets we use were loading in a different order or something? I've a long list of CSS 1 validation failures I haven't even had time to look at yet, also via w3c's validator. Attached are both stylesheets with the warnings out-commented at the bottom. Rasmus went over the notes with his Famous Tool [TM] in the wee small hours and reported a bunch of XSS holes I need to fix before we get anywhere near putting them live. Also as you'll have spotted Andrei has some reservations about the email address 'test mode' cookie, so I think we'll need to change the system to use php.net addresses, but I don't know how happy ezmls will be about that yet. (I've had issues with directing php list mail to my php.net addy in the past.) I really, really need to focus on paid work this week - if someone else can fiddle with the stylesheets/headers and manage to retain valid HTML, utf-8 headers and normal fonts for Firefox all at once, please get on it! - Steph
2) Anyone with php-gtk-web karma can give themselves access to the restricted areas. I am not sure if that is really a concern though since it doesn't look like you can really do that much damage. Plus, if they have been granted web karma, hopefully we can trust them not to do anything stupid.
Anyone with php-gtk-web karma who alters a file in CVS to give themselves access to the restricted areas will be doing so publicly and have it on record for all time. My deep and

OK people, I have worked my boobies off over the last few days and hopefully everything will 'just work' now. Please go in and test it, it's at least 5000 times as secure as php.net so I'm ignoring Andrei over this :) The login page is at http://gtk.php.net/admin-login.php, use your php.net credentials. Docteam regulars should be able to get into the 'test' area without any problem, but nowhere else restricted. If you find you can reach something you shouldn't be able to reach, please let me know(!). Also if you can't reach something you think you should be able to, of course. 'Test' means you get your own temporary database (a copy of the original) to mess around with. It also means that, for the time being at least, the email address you use when testing it will be held as plain text in a cookie on your box for the duration - even if our outgoing mail's switched off at the time. So please log out when you're done playi^H^H^H^H^Hlearning the system! If it all screws up and we lose the db over the next day or two it's ok, I still have a virgin backup of the original notes here. However if the mail's still switched off you probably won't get to add anything to that anyway, there's a queuing system (as you'll see) that waits for the mail to go through to the list. (It's just a cheap way of making sure we have a report before our db falls apart.) Feedback is welcome so long as you don't all shout at once.. - Steph
