I have looked/used the OOP Cario extention, and was even tempted for a while to try and bring it to PHP-GTK (mosty by Elizabeth telling "DO IT" which resulted in me ending up in a fetal position crying), though a lot of the PHP interface is over my head, especially on dynamic object manipulation, I am just not used to it. My most advanced OOP extension was a rebuild of the OpenAL API which did not get very far past ->play() ->stop(), and after the semester started back up... I tell you what in my next life I will listen to people when they tell me to start college right after high school instead of waiting.
I cannot even begin to count about the times I have wished for custom cell renderers. To be honest I have not the slightest idea where to start, but I could attempt. I swear I know C /and/ Gtk well but the PHP interface is like a foreign language... . I am good at chasing down segfaults though... honest.

I think we should make final release soon. Thoughts? We thought it would be nice to have custom cell-renderers and cairo support before going in for the final release. We already have custom gtypes and signals support in, and that would make the final release extremely usable. Elizabeth and myself can speed up work on cairo; Elizabeth has picked up a basic OO binding to cairo and we plan on fitting it into the code-generator. As for custom cell-renderers, I haven't had a look at it; perhaps you could evaluate whether it would be worth it? Regards, -- Anant
