First, it's true i don't have a E3 connection, that's because I'm just using a private account (that is a normal user ADSL account). As you might know, I'm running this server for more than 18 months now, with nearly no downtime. Last one was 3 weeks ago because of a major power failure near Rotterdam (Netherlands). I'm almost certain than I'm the only webmaster of an official mirror which also has an CVS account (Zyprexia) and regurly contribute to PEAR. I understand that you want fast download servers, but i don't like the fact that these ISP's use PHP to promote their own company (In this case trueserver). I'm also busy to move the mirror to my work, where we do have an a E3-line. Allowing a maximum of 1024kb/s per IP. This might take only a few weeks from now. I'm waiting for the permission to run the server at the company network infrastructure. If my boss refuses to run the server, ism willing to hand over the mirror. I'm an active PHP supporter and i give every two weeks a workshop about PHP and HTML/CSS for the Rijnmond department (including Rotterdam) of HCC (a nation wide computer magazine/club). If i hand over the mirror, can i still sync with the PHP master, because I'm using the mirror as a local reference/work bank. With the mirror on hand, i can install almost any PHP version i want and to fix bugs in our software. Last, i doubt that the update speed of that mirror is faster than mine. My update time is every 4 hours. According to the mirror readme this is the minimum time between two updates. Or the readme must have changed. I also read that if the update frequency is below 4 hours, connection might be refused to preserve bandwidth for other mirrors. So, let's make a deal. Before Wednesday January 8th, 2003 I'll contact you again about my company is willing to run the mirror or not. If you didn't hear anything from me on January 8th, you can hand over the mirror to trueserver, because I'm finally on my winter vacation ;-) Let me now what you think, ok?! -- With best regards, Dave Mertens - Senior Development Manager dmertens@ism.nl Innovative Solutions in Media Schiekade 101 3033 BG Rotterdam, Netherlands T +31-10-2436060 F +31-10-2436066 http://www.ism.nl Quality Solutions - Reliable Partner
