Me neither. I never have seen PEAR as a framework but
a collection of reusable components for common (and
sometimes not so common) tasks. These components allready
have speeded up my development time on various tasks. I also
could use these components to build a framework of my own.
Still, I really wouldn't want to see PEAR to change into
a single framework.
I thing one reason why there is so much emotions included
in the postings in pear-dev and pear-general is that since
old PEAR code was included in PHP distribution and the "new"
PEAR code is still in the same CVS as PHP it is considered
somehow "better" than other places. So someone wants to have
his code included in this "official" distribution place. When
the PEAR community says the code does not fit in that someone
gets offended.
IMO PEAR has been going to right direction as it is now. It
is not a framework. It does not iclude any other frameworks. It
does include usable and combatible pieces of code to help me
work faster.
How about doing something constructive for a while?
