Sorry for the mis-understanding. People will have to use a JVM to run Java
code. The category I'm interested in establishing (or the code to go into
other categories) would simplify accessing Java classes.

It appears that some Java APIs cannot be accessed directly from PHP through
the Java Extension. One example I can give is using the TRaX API for XSL
processing. In this case, a façade written in Java is necessary to help
matters.
In some (many?) cases, there would be a simplified API. In all, there would
be code matching exceptions to PEAR_Error's.
There's also the benefit of showing your average PHP developer extra
functionality that they can install and use that they're not aware of today.
Best regards,
Stu
