Suggestion:
alpha : unreliable, API may change, expect lots of bugs
beta : API will not change unless it has to, some bugs
stable : API will not change, no known bugs
cvs : CVS snapshot - do you feel lucky today?
devel : probably not needed ("cvs" should cover for this one)
"Cvs" could be called "snapshot", so we don't have to rename it the
day we ditch CVS and start using Subversion instead. :-)
