I remember having looked at Net_ICQ in CPAN [1] and even if I don't like
comparing CPAN code to PEAR packages, it seems as if the Perl version
can do much more than your code. It for example supports different
servers while your code is bound to *.icq.com. Apart from that they seem
to have a more generic interface to utilize the different features like
sending messages, searching users etc.
Perhaps it's worth having a look at those things before releasing it in
PEAR.
