Thanks Lukas for your quick answer ! What don't you like exactly in the PclZip API ? The use of variable parameters like arch->extract(PCLZIP_OPT_PATH, "folder",
                    PCLZIP_OPT_REMOVE_ALL_PATH); ?
usually:
$arch->extract(array(
      'path'=>'foldername',
      'remove_all_path' => true
)); is common in pear.. Theres quite a bit of work to apply pear CS - indents/method name (priv = _)... It's a great package, I would +1 If you are willing to put in the effort to pearify it.. Regards Alan
If yes, how do you think is the best solution when you have lots of available way to extract (by name, by index, by reg-exp, ...), define a method per way ? a method per options (remove path, add path, ...) ? Use flags in the class object ? ... Thanks for any input. (BTW I'm not sure I like the idea to rewrite a lot of PclZip code ....) I do have a PHP class which is managing Zip archive. This class is available since feb 2002 with name PclZip from http://www.phpconcept.net/pclzip/index.en.php. I propose to have PclZip adapted to fit PEAR requirements and becomes

an
Archive_Zip package. Do you think it can help ? I also see that the zip feature from PHP is now available as a PECL Package, do you think that there is a place for Archive_Zip ? I think

yes
because PclZip seems to offer much features. Thanks for your feedbacks,

Yeah the zip ext for php is kinda limited as it supports read only and it is also not enabled by default. I must admit I don't like the API in the pclzip package, but if you can model the package as similar as possible to the Archive_Tar package I would be a happy camper.
