Hi,
Davey brought up a good point today on IRC:
PEAR should do at least some basic things in the direction of marketing.
I think for now the best course of action is to make sure we are well
represented in all PHP mags and at all PHP Events (or Events where PHP is
represented).
So basically I ask everyone that hears of a PHP Event to drop me a note so
that I can make sure that PEAR is well represented. Actually thinking about
it we may want to put up a Wiki to coordinate things (Paul you up for this
since you are our Wiki expert? ;-) ). There we could also list all PHP mags
and people can list the PEAR articles for each mag there (title, with link
if available) so we can see where we are featured and where we are not yet
featured.
At the same time we should have good answers ready to some of the criticism
often voiced on the net which is often not well thought out or a result of
the fact that the given person has needs which are too specific to be able
to address them. These things should go into our manual and should help
people in making sound arguments when they see crap thrown around against
PEAR in forums, on IRC or a mailinglists. Maybe someone has a good article
which we can use as a starting point. And maybe some of you even have the
drive to push a document like this.
Regards,
Lukas Smith
