OK. My only competence here is that of being new enough to PEAR that the
memory of my first steps is still fresh.
I came to PEAR through Quickform Controller. Since then I have been
systematically using about 10 packages, and been very happy with it.
I find the site generally excellent, with the *notable* exception of the
welcome page. When I first came on this page, I really had no clue what it
was about and was somewhat put off.
So I am sure a quick win is to redesign this page to make what PEAR is more
explicit. I made a modest draft:
http://www.auderghem-analytica.com/download/PEAR_home_page_redesign.htm
I propose more generally to bury the acronymic development of PEAR, which is
misleading. In my book PEAR is (currently) neither an application (Horde,
SF) nor an extension (PECL) nor a repository (Hotscripts, PHP Classes). It
is more a PHP Enterprise Component Library.
And the "fleshy pome" business.
Just my 2 Belgian francs.
