define "many common setups" I have seen it confirmed working in PHP version 4.2.0-PHP5HEAD on: Windows 98/2000/XP (4.2.0 is affected by a bug in pear.bat PEAR v1.3.1) debian slackware OSX freebsd redhat 9.0/8.0 If there are problems, they can be fixed. However, I don't see any open bugs in the PEAR package saying "installation doesn't work for OS blahblah"... Greg
