I seem to remember it being broken in the previous beta too, but maybe am thinking of a PHP5b4 snap. So there was a bug until recently (RC1) :) I suppose go-pear.php is not technically the installer. Generally I've found the installer to work. I have always wondered where the docs are that tell you how to do install a specific version of a package. I now know because I asked the list, but suffice it to say that it could use some more documentation. I'm just eagerly awaiting channels. Hans* The installer is great. COMMENT: It's fine when it works. The problem is that is simply does not work on many common setups. In a way that's not so bad if we assume that using PEAR classes is only for the serious developer. Casual developers need not apply.... If there are problems, they can be fixed. However, I don't see any open bugs in the PEAR package saying "installation doesn't work for OS blahblah"...
