I think the code review process that happens before new code is accepted is very good. Its great to see code and api improve a lot during this processes. (maybe its something we could do before marking a package stable as well) PEARs ability to keep the junk out is also very nice, something like phpClasses is worthless The strong focus on BC is also very nice, its nice to be able to upgrade without everything breaking. PEARs efforts to standardize on things like error handling are also very good since it makes it easier to integrate the various classes together (this is something i would like to see more focus on in php5, standardized interfaces for standard stuff) -josh
