well, I don't really understand why there is so much negativity on PHP 5. We all need to face the reality: PHP 5 will have a first stable release as scheduled this summer (next month??) so regardless of our personal feelings, we should follow new development at the same speed as PHP. Just my opinion of course. Cheers David CostaOn the other hand, due to the large installed userbase, PHP4 is going to stay with us a long time (look at Apache 1 vs 2). PEAR should cater to both PHP4 and PHP5 until such a time as when PHP4 is considered residual. This could all be solved neatly with channels. Fork PEAR into two channels. The current PHP4 one, and a PHP5. Packages on the new PHP5 channel should run cleanly under E_STRICT and follow the coding guidelines being RFC'ed now. Gradually development will move to the PHP5 channel, as PHP5 gains traction. Sérgio
